Amazon discontinues their Amazon Smile Program

Updated: Jan 21

The end of the line for Amazon's charitable giving program is a big loss for non-profit organizations world-wide. Amazon closes program February 2023.

Our organization has always had mixed feelings about being part of the Amazon Smile program. Amazon is a large reason that independent bookstores across the country have closed for business. Personally, the Smile program made it a little easier for me to shop on Amazon. As someone with a disability, shopping online has made my life much easier - but I was always saddened by the impact online merchants have on local businesses.

Since 2013, the Claremont Forum has been enrolled in the Amazon Smile program. Thanks to many of our dedicated supporters, we have been able to raise thousands of dollars for the Prison Library Project.

I would like to thank everyone who used Amazon Smile to support the PLP. You have definitely made a difference and have helped us provide books to incarcerated men and women across the US.

Please consider becoming a monthly donor to continue supporting the Prison Library Project. A small monthly donation of just $5-$10 can help us recover the funding we are losing due to the discontinuation of Amazon's Smile program.

If you are interested in making a donation or becoming a monthly donor go to our website donation link.

Thank you again for all your support for the Prison Library Project!
